Our Philosophy

We believe, as a rule of thumb, that if you have things in their most natural state you can’t go far wrong.
That means produce and products that are unprocessed, without chemical preservatives and not rammed with high levels of sugar and salt that cause long term damage over time.

Education in this area is difficult. There is a lack of general knowledge and society has moved further and further away from understanding our body’s need for good nutrition which is why so many of us struggle on with ailments and conditions that could be improved with good, nutrient-rich food that keeps the body in balance.

• We don’t promote or advocate any one dietary regime, nor passing fads.
• We recognise our needs are not all the same, that there are many options to help many different people.
• We promote a balance of good general nutrition.

Celebration
Food and products should be fun, enjoyable and celebrated! There is far too much anxiety connected with food intake. Possibly the greatest social connections we experience is sharing good food together – we don’t do this enough. It’s slowly being lost as, more and more, we take on fast food options. We say ‘Slow down’ – enjoy!

Meet the team

As a team, we are here to help you in any way we can. That could be just showing you where the product that you are looking for is in store, or pointing out all the dairy fee options if you are lactose intolerant. We love getting your suggestions on products to stock and some of the best additions to our ranges have come through customer requests.

We try our best to provide information when asked on specific products but with over 3500 lines you will have to bear with us at times. Don’t be afraid to ask how to cook some unusual grain or pulse, one of us has usually had a go at it with varying degrees of success.

Most days you will find a taster on offer, some things you just have to try to see good they are. We also often have in-store events when certain suppliers promote their range or we have teamed up with a local practitioner to offer advice on a particular topic. These events will be posted on social media leading up, and also advertised in-store.

Trea Langford
Founder

Trea is a foodie of foodies and has a mild addiction to cook books, her collection is impressive.
She splits her time between looking after the family’s four girls and the business finances, so not much time to spare.

Trea’s passion is for good nutritional food and she has also created some effective concoctions to help ward off nasty winter bugs. Catch her in store (if you can) and ask her about them – they work!

Grant Langford
Founder

Grant is from the land down under - NZ, he can often be seen singing to himself in the store and we think it’s just stress release so don’t be too alarmed.

Being a Kiwi, his passion is for genuine Manuka Honey, hence the name of the shop, a nod to his roots. Keep an eye out for other interesting products coming into the store from NZ – He can’t help it!

Beliefs – A note from the owners
The most common misconception is that because the shop is closed on the Sabbath (Saturday), we must therefore be Jewish by faith but this is actually not the case.

We are dedicated Christians and hold closely to the teachings of the early New Testament Church.
Therefore we keep the Sabbath according to the New Testament example along with the biblical Holy Days (listed in Leviticus) which again are documented throughout the New Testament.
We mention this because there are a select few days in the year when we will close the shop for trading because of the celebration of one of the Holy Days.

Much of what was observed from the early Church that Peter was commissioned to establish has been eroded and sadly replaced more and more with the traditions of men, which have filtered in over the centuries and are now taught as scripture.

Our fundamental commitment is to keep the two great commandments –
To love God with all our heart, mind & soul and to obey him.
To love our fellow man and care for them in the same way we would for ourselves.
